Advanced lithium-ion battery supplier EnerDel, will furnish and deliver eight PP320-689-LP Vigor+ Low-Profile Energy Storage Systems (ESS) to the City and County of Honolulu, Department of Transportation Services for installation into OTS diesel-hybrid buses. An EnerDel demonstration pack has operated in regular passenger service for several months on the tropical island of Oahu. Read more >>


Spanish wireless internet services provider Gowex has signed an agreement with Cisco to promote a comprehensive smart Wi-Fi connectivity platform for cities. Under the terms of the agreement Gowex will become a Cisco Smart+Connected Communities global strategic partner. Cisco, in turn, will join the Gowex Smart Cities project to help the Spanish company reach its goal of bringing a free Wi-Fi connection to 600 cities by 2018. Read more >>


FLS Energy has closed financing and begun construction on 38 megawatts of utility-scale solar farms across eight locations in North Carolina. The solar energy plants will produce approximately 56 million kilowatt hours of electricity per year or enough energy to power over 5000 average U.S. homes. Read more >>


Energy and sustainability management company Ecova announced that in partnership with its utility clients it has delivered 90 terawatt hours (TWh) of energy savingsover the last ten years, equivalent to equivalent to removing 54 million tons of CO2 from the atmosphere or 30 medium-sized, coal-fired power plants for one year. In 2013, Ecova delivered 18 TWh of energy savings. Read more >>
