Alstom has been selected to provide its Integrated Distribution Management System (IDMS) to PPL Electric Utilities, which provides electric delivery service to 1.4 million customers in the state of Pennsylvania. Viva-Trilogy Dominicana S.A., a Dominican Republic mobile network, has announced the completion of a backup power pilot program using a GE Durathon battery and a remote monitoring and diagnostic (RMD) system from OmniMetrix, LLC, an Acorn Energy company. The pilot resulted in an 88 percent reduction in backup power costs and diesel fuel expenses as well as a 60 percent decrease in site energy costs. Read more >>


Ice Energy will deliver 250 KW of electric capacity for the Central Maine Power Company as part of an innovative pilot program approved this week by state regulators. To manage the peak electric load created by the region’s demand for air conditioning, the MPUC is exploring non-transmission alternatives (NTA) to meet the reliability needs in the Boothbay Harbor area.
