Ideal Power, a developer of a disruptive power conversion technology, received initial purchase orders for 20 units of its 30kW battery converter from two Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) integration customers to be installed in commercial storage systems in California. The identities of the system integrators and project details are protected by customer non-disclosure agreements, but Ideal Power expects to make joint announcements on specific customer installations when they are operational. Opower announced the expansion of its small and medium business (SMB) solution to deliver energy efficiency savings for three new utility clients, including National Grid. Opower’s expanded SMB solution builds on its experience delivering analysis and recommendations to nearly 1 million SMB utility customers through its energy-insights web platform, as well as its energy efficiency programs with more than 20 million residential customers at 90 utilities worldwide. Power and automation technology group ABB announced the kickoff of two major renewable substation EPC projects in the US involving wind and solar power. The wind farm will receive the EPC supply of a collector substation, utilizing its 38kV MV GIS switchgear technology in the design. This new collector substation will provide the customer with a Generator Step Up transformer complete with high voltage breakers, switches, instrument transformers, capacitor banks and the switchgear featured in a power distribution center. Pulse Energy announced a multi-million dollar, three year contract with British Gas. British Gas is the United Kingdom’s largest energy supplier and will leverage the Pulseâ„¢ Platform and analytics to help its business customers across 900,000 service points to save energy and run their businesses more efficiently.
