Nimble Storage dubbed "Cool Vendor" by Gartner for storage architecture

Nimble Storage, developer of the first converged storage and backup solution, has been chosen as one of Gartner's Cool Vendors in Storage Technologies for 2011. Gartner selected six companies to receive this designation for their enterprising technology.

Utilities are rapidly modernizing their IT systems.  Emerging technologies like smart grids bring the promise of huge cost savings and allow utilities to offer new value-added services, like giving their customers real-time insight into energy usage patterns. These services bring major new IT demands. New applications must rapidly access huge new information stores and this requires a new storage infrastructure. This infrastructure must provide both high performance and low cost.

"Nimble Storage was founded by a team of industry veterans who developed groundbreaking primary storage and de-duplication architectures at several market-leading storage companies," said a spokesperson for Nimble in an interview. "Their experience has given Nimble a unique perspective to solving these challenges with a new storage architecture."
