MEET THE TEAM

           

Jesse Berst, Founding Editor, Chief Analyst. Jesse is an internationally known technology and business analyst. He has authored or co-authored more than a dozen books on technology topics, written hundreds of articles for leading publications and keynoted dozens of business events in the U.S. and abroad. Jesse serves on the Advisory Council of Pacific Northwest National Laboratory and has also advised the U.S. Department of Energy, the GridWise Alliance, the NETL Grid Modernization program, the Gonzaga University Transmission & Distribution Program, the King County Prosperity Partnership, the Portland Business Alliance, and the Premier’s Technology Council in British Columbia, among others. He is a co-founder of the Smart Grid Consumer Collaborative.

                         

Skip Clemens, Marketing Director.  Skip has been involved in the marketing/sales arena for over 30 years.  The outdoor industry a passion, he served as the Director of Operations for the American Sportsmen, Inc. in Southern California for 18 years.  He has served on the board of several organizations in such positions as president, vice-president, and director-at-large.  Skip has served as the national marketing director with responsibilities for advertising sales for several outdoor/recreation trade publications.  He has owned and been involved in the start-up of several companies, bringing them to the point of profitable sales. In addition, Skip has experience in conferences and fundraising events. He currently sits on the board of Adventures Marketing Group LLC, a marketing and consulting firm.  

 

Jon DeKeles, Technical Director. As a co-founder of New Riders Publishing in the mid-80s, Jon created a desktop publishing system to lay out their best-selling books about AutoCAD. It was a precursor to software like PageMaker and Venture Publisher. Later, in conjunction with Ziff Davis Publishing, Jon was instrumental in creating the technology behind the very popular AnchorDesk email alert, which was sent to over 3 million readers daily at its peak.

 

Liz Enbysk, Managing Editor.  Liz spent her early career as a reporter and editor for newspapers and magazines in the Pacific Northwest before making the leap to online journalism in the 1990s. She has developed web content and provided consulting services to companies large and small in a wide variety of industries, but likes working in the smart grid space where change is constant and the end result worth pursuing.

Doug Peeples, News Editor. Doug worked for more years than he cares to think about as a newspaper reporter/editor and public affairs director before joining the SGN team. After writing about the smart grid for the past couple of years, he has developed a particular interest in emerging technologies, renewable energy and consumer education.
