Eaton to update GSA to smart building status
Smart building projects qualify for federal stimulus funds and the General Services Administration (GSA) is taking advantage of the government's generosity (a total $133 million federal stimulus grant for the GSA to be exact). The Edith Green-Wendell Wyatt Federal Building Modernization Project in Portland, Oregon, is part of a federal energy efficiency initiative and will utilize Eaton Corporation to design and furnish updated power distribution, electrical metering and power control systems.
The project will be completed in 2013, enabling the GSA facility to meet LEED Platinum Standards. To date, it is the largest American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) project in GSA Region 10, covering Oregon, Alaska, Idaho and Washington. The Edith Green building is intended to serve as a roadmap for the green building initiatives of more than 20 other federal office buildings with similar needs throughout the United States.
