DistribuTECH: Forward Thinking

The theme of DistribuTECH 2013 is "Thinking Forward."

From my perspective, "Forward Thinking" paints a more accurate picture. The difference is subtle but important.

"Thinking Forward" indicates that we are considering a future that includes a modernized and intelligent grid -- but that doesn't automatically mean there is any action or momentum actually driving that future ahead.

On the other hand, "Forward Thinking" describes perfectly the thought leaders and innovative minds that have come together as collaborators and enablers at DistribuTECH -- one of the largest, most respected utility industry events. Innovation leadership, i.e., forward thinking, is what will shape and drive the future of smart grid.

Both the utility and vendor communities are transforming collaboration into a new era of innovation in order to operate in a rapidly changing world that is not only smart but more connected. By collectively taking the best and most successful technology and business models from industries like healthcare, aerospace and telecommunication, and combining that with proven technology and business models in energy, this industry has the potential to change the way the world manages energy and water.

For those who were unable to attend DistribuTECH, FierceSmartGrid will continue providing on-going show coverage via Twitter, LinkedIn and, of course, -Barb
