California gaining PV market share

Even though California's share of the solar PV market has gradually declined as New Jersey, Arizona, and other states on the East Coast launched their own PV initiatives, new research from NPD Solarbuzz contends that California will regain its market share.

Further, by 2013 they project that California will hold more than half of the U.S. market share due to a variety of programs, policies, and regulations across the PV market spectrum, including residential, non-residential, and utility segments.

California has seen significant declines in its solar market share over 2010 and 2011. In fact, in 2011, California's share dropped to 30 percent while New Jersey's jumped to 17 percent. Still, the research projects that the California solar PV market will experience 60 percent year over year growth in 2012, continuing to lead the nation with the long-term commitment to solar and other renewable and energy-efficient technologies.
