$5.8T in cuts threaten clean energy


The Republican goal this week is to cut $5.8 trillion of federal spending over the next decade. The target of those cuts: clean energy. Under close scrutiny is the US Department of Energy's Loan Guarantee program which promotes the private investments in clean energy technology needed for advancements and broad acceptance. But perhaps the clean energy funds will receive a reprieve. In his State of the Union address this year, President Obama set a goal of obtaining 80% of U.S. energy from clean sources by 2035.
