PROJECT WINS
· NEC Corporation has been selected by Enel, Italy's largest distribution system operator, to supply what NEC says will be one of the largest energy storage systems (ESS) based on lithium-ion-manganese technology in Europe. Enel will install NEC’s ESS at its Chiaravalle power substation site in the Calabria Region and plans to run a pilot to optimize the flow of renewable energy to the Italian transmission grid while reducing the imbalance between forecast power and actual production and minimizing energy loss due to grid congestion. The NEC storage system will enable ENEL to smoothly control the exchange of energy via the power grid. Read more >>
· Telvent's Conductor Meter Data Management (MDM) solution has been selected by Entegrus Powerlines. The Ontario electric company will be the
· Navasota Valley Electric Cooperative (NVEC) will install the Sensus FlexNet utility communications network in an effort to increase reliability and provide usage information for its 13,000-member service territory in central Texas. NVEC will launch a three-month pilot program with residential iCon A electric meters and two base stations and eventually replace all of its more than 18,000 meters with Sensus technology. · PowerSecure announced $20 million of new awards for distributed generation (DG) systems and utility infrastructure projects. The $11 million in DG awards include installations for industrial, military, hospital, data center, and commercial facilities. The utility infrastructure awards total $9 million, and include T&D projects to upgrade utility systems and substation projects. Read more >>
· 23 rural electric utilities around the country will share $134 million in USDA loan guarantees for smart grid technologies. Recipients are: South Alabama
· Harris Utilities’ customer engagement solution CustomerConnect has been selected by Canada's Niagara Peninsula Energy Inc. (NPEI). to provide a one-stop shop to help consumers understand their energy consumption patterns, recognize the impact of changes they make, and show them how their usage compares to others in their community. “We want customers to get involved. We want them to be educated about energy use and savings. We want them to understand what they’re using, think about how they can change consumption to decrease their bill,” says Margaret Battista, vice-president of customer service and information technology at NPEI.
