· Itron got the nod from E.ON, one of Hungary's largest utilities, to supply more than 7,600 smart meters for business and residential customers across the country, expanding a pilot already under way. Itron's general packet radio service meters allow for automated monitoring and increased communication about energy usage. They will be installed at a random selection of E.ON’s 2.5 million customers, allowing Hungarian energy officials to evaluate consumer energy use and efficiency based on data the smart meters provide. · Clevest Solutions, a provider of mobile workforce automation software including smart grid operations for the utility industry, announced that Shenandoah Valley Electric Cooperative has successfully deployed its combined Mobile Workforce Management and Automatic Vehicle Location systems, integrated with enterprise systems from Partner Software, Daffron and DataVoice, to improve the management of day-to-day service orders and outages. · Milsoft Utility Solutions will supply its Engineering Analysis software to the Marquette, Michigan Board of Light & Power for system planning and operations. Milsoft says the software, used by some 1,000 electric utilities, helps increase employee productivity, service reliability and operational efficiency as well as enable economical system expansion planning. · Harris Utilities’ customer engagement solution CustomerConnect was selected by Lakeland Electric of Florida to complete its smart infrastructure
Meanwhile, with drought a major concern in the American southwest, the Albuquerque Bernalillo County Water Utility Authority – the largest utility in New Mexico – has also chosen CustomerConnect along with MeterSense, Harris Utilities' meter data management solution.
