Structure Group: I nominate Houston-based “The Structure Group” as one of the large system integrators for smart grid projects to keenly watch in 2012. Starting with their association with the award-winning Oklahoma Gas & Electric Positive Energy project in 2009 -- one of the most comprehensive and successful smart grid implementations in the entire Americas –  Structure has since bagged several distribution automation pilots, DR and DMS implementations within the U.S. In the next five years the U.S. will witness a steep increase in DMS implementations. Jesse - look out for PayGo, we are being integrated into most Smart Meters today and we provide some of the 1st smart meters "apps" on the market. With the added memory and bandwidth in smart grid networks, smart "apps" are here now....

Siemens Needs to Be on Your List

Jesse - Look for huge acceleration and momentum from Siemens. Siemens added eMeter to its kit, of course, but more importantly, Siemens reorganized last October and combined its Smart Grid products and services into a single, consolidated Smart Grid Division - totaling 10,000 employees worldwide. The Division has hit the ground running based on an existing portfolio but will take it to the next level in 2012 and cement itself as one of the global Smart Grid leaders.
