Venture capital pitch tournament will focus on cleantech

SXSW Eco, taking place at the AT&T Executive Education and Conference Center in Austin, Texas, on Oct. 3 – 5, is accepting applications for the SXSW Eco Startup Showcase. In partnership with the Austin Technology Clean Energy Incubator and Austin Energy, this one-day venture capital tournament is designed to exhibit the best of cleantech startups. Fifteen companies will compete before a live audience and panel of judges to present their innovative technologies. Navy creates online multiplayer energy war game – no uniforms required

A new version of the Navy's online gaming platform MMOWGLI (for Massive Multiplayer Online Wargame Leveraging the Internet) invites military personnel and the public to strategize ways to reduce the military's dependence on fossil fuels. The game poses the question, how can the Navy best meet future energy demands? Players collaborate and brainstorm as they move through a series of videos that define problems. Siemens' 'Living Energy' – now there's an app for that

Siemens Energy’s customer magazine “Living Energy” is now also published as an iPad application. The “Living Energy” app offers readers additional content and an alternative to the print version. The app can be downloaded for free at the Apple App Store. Target audience and readership of “Living Energy” are international top-level executives in the energy business, politics, science and associations.         

                                                                       

The ZigBee 500

The ZigBee Alliance recently announced there are now more than 500 ZigBee Certified products available to the market, a 60 percent surge since August 2011. According to the announcement, early market success with ZigBee Home Automation and ZigBee Smart Energy has led to ZigBee standards now playing a role in products developed by more than 350 global manufacturers.
