Utilities and technology vendors can take advantage of the KEMA Smart Grid Interop Lab (SGIL) through a new membership program DNV KEMA is offering. The company says " industry participants can economically test products for smart grid integration, compliance, and risk, while collaborating with other members to drive rich interoperability solutions and expand market visibility." The Association of Energy Services Professionals (AESP) launched MyEnergyGateway.org to provide information on training programs, degrees and certifications that focus on energy efficiency, sustainability, green and alternative energy, as well as energy engineering, green building design and other disciplines. "Companies and utilities involved in creating energy efficiency programs are facing a lack of talented and adequately trained candidates for jobs," said Meg Matt, President & CEO of AESP. "MyEnergyGateway.org serves as an educational pathway for students, returning military and those seeking a career change to better understand the numerous opportunities that currently exist in energy.

Care to comment on proposed revisions to an energy standard for buildings?
Public input is being sought into revision of an ASHRAE/IES standard that addresses retrofit of existing residential and commercial buildings to achieve greater energy efficiency. Last year, ASHRAE and the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) announced they were revising ANSI/ASHRAE/IESNA Standard 100-2006, Energy Conservation in Existing Buildings, to provide greater guidance and a more comprehensive approach to the retrofit of existing buildings for increased energy efficiency. The proposed changes include criteria for energy use surveys and auditing and requirements related to implementation and verification. The comment period continues until June 18. Learn more >>
