<< Return to Page One Seen and heard by Jesse Berst
As usual, SGN's founder and Chief Analyst Jesse Berst was booked to the hilt during DistribuTECH, meeting and greeting industry leaders day and night – and taking notes and tweeting along the way. We thought you might be interested in a few that didn't make it into Twitterdom:
· Behind closed doors with Kieran McLoughlin, IBM's head of T&D globally. Company is incubating solutions from smaller partners.
· Sit-down with Accenture's David Rouls. They have become enough of a force to start pressuring vendors for product changes in behalf of utilities.
· Utilities circling back to do better design of data architecture, says Structure's David Shepheard. Who owns it, how to share it, what processes to keep accurate are all questions they didn't answer well enough first time out.
· Tropos' focus is on field automation. Its own network manager will talk to "manager of managers" from any of the majors.
· Another reason Itron and Cisco partnered? It was a "force multiplier" to help influence standards groups, admits Itron Energy President Philip Mezey at private event.
· Tendril is "the leader in the $0 billion home energy market" quips CEO Adrian Tuck. Fortunately other markets are opening more rapidly.
· Tech-heads at S&C Electric doing more work on business cases to help uncover all the value streams from reliability in recognition that good engineering is not enough -- utilities need help with business side too.
