Siemens is partnering with Proximetry to improve the management of communication devices for electric, gas and water grids for the North American market. They say their joint solution will address a growing market for managing millions of communicating grid devices. Siemens will deliver Proximetry's Airsync Network Management System (NMS) to utilities using its PM@Siemens delivery and integration process.
ViaSat introduced its new security system for critical infrastructure including energy grids and other utility networks. It is designed to avert or minimize security breaches and ensure continued operation of these networks. Using a virtual view of their networks, ViaSat says operators can manage security with a mouse click, based on real-time intelligence gathered from sensors that continually update information.
EnerNOC announced the latest release of its energy management application platform. With the release EnerNOC now offers utilities three different customer engagement models: its traditional full-service DR offering; a "white-labeled" software-as-a-service (SaaS) offering, and a hybrid model in which EnerNOC's platform is branded as the utility's offering and EnerNOC serves as the program implementer, performing sales, network deployment, and dispatch management on behalf of the utility.
McAfee and SUBNET Solutions will jointly offer what they're calling the industry’s first unified substation security solution to address the growing cyber security needs for electric utility substation integration and automation systems. Using their combined solution, they say a utility operator can now implement an advanced substation integration and automation system that also protects against cyber threats for meeting regulatory requirements such as NERC CIP.
Alstom Grid and Cap Gemini announced plans to pursue joint commercial opportunities for their combined smart grid solutions. First up is launch of what they're saying is the industry’s first real-time, cloud-based Integrated Distribution Management Systems and a new cloud-based Demand Response Management System. Built on Alstom’s e-terra 3.0 network management software platform, the services provide real-time distribution and demand response system management from a cloud environment to deliver cost savings and increased reliability.
