PROJECT WINS
· AirspanNetworks, a provider of 4Gbroadband wireless access networks, has been selected by Western Power Distribution (WPD) to supply a WIGRID broadband wireless access solution for a government-funded smart grid pilot in the UK. Airspan's AirSynergy 2000 base station will provide secure high bandwidth wireless connections between primary and secondary power grid sub-stations in and around Milton Keynes, UK. According to Airspan, the Milton Keynes pilot, part of WPD's low carbon project known as FALCON, is being operated on spectrum licenses granted by the regulator Ofcom to allow the trials to proceed and prove the viability of wireless control and monitoring of the electricity grid. · Itron got the nod from the Las Vegas Valley Water District (LVVWD) to supply its automated metering solution to improve operational efficiency and streamline meter reading for the not-for-profit agency that provides water to more than 1 million residents and 35 million annual visitors in Southern Nevada. The contract includes nearly 400,000 Itron water communication modules for residential and commercial customers as well as Itron’s mobile collection system, field collection system software and overall project management. · Survalent Technology has commissioned a new SCADA system for Habersham Electric Membership Corp., a 33,000 member cooperative in northern Georgia. Read more >>
· RGS Energy, the commercial and utility division of Real Goods Solar, has been engaged by the City of El Cerrito, California to design and install 336 kW of solar power at several municipal locations. The project involves the installation of more than 1,200 panels on several rooftops and solar carport structures at the city's community center, public safety building, recycling center, and fire station.
