Finding a coherent strategy to modernize infrastructure that can be rolled out nationally in a divisive polar political environment is unlikely. That being said it is unlikely that our next President won't be left handed. So it is true that unlikely things become possible, even inevitable under this flag.
If the point of National Smart Grid is to monitor and reward $$$ Smart communities and smart users, we could see a new way of educating and rewarding energy users for innovation and conservation. It is enormously complicated but let's not overwhelm the system. Let's market in areas of national disaster, habitat for humanity, combine smart energy systems to demonstrate synergistic communities awaiting a national hub.
After all it is an election year and we can all vote to make this change sooner rather than later.
