I cannot imagine at this time a more URGENT National Task than the designing and implementing of a National High Woltage Smart Grid, Connecting ANY Wind or SUN energy source, with the Consumer of Energy 2. This is NOT a job for private investors 3. This is a State, a National Job 4. If this National Grid is in place, the private investors will jump in action without any state intervention. 5. | AMI and EMS |
| I'd like to see the first category, Advanced METERing Infrastructure, defined more simply. A meter is a device that provides information based on measurements - to the utility and hopefully to the customer. The control of loads should be defined as being a separate thing, an Energy Management System. It is logical that information from the AMI will feed into the EMS, and some systems will choose to include both metering and controls in one big package, but it is misleading to imply that metering and controls MUST be combined into a single system. |

| I agree with previous comment. In addition I think that the communications infraestructure will be separated due differents characteristics (real and near real time). The current developments puts many functionalities in the meter and in the data concentrators located in the transformers. In that case many companies think in use this infraestructure as a communication layer for smartgrid deployment. But the AMI infraestructure must be as simple as we can, like in the telecomunication industry. The switch generates a CDR and this data are procesed in a central systems and share with other departaments via BI systems. The load control, fraud control, energy flows audits, etc. should be done in a centralised way reciving simple useage data from the meter. |
