Title
Press Release: HomePlug Powerline Alliance and HD-PLC Alliance to Develop Joint Certification Program for Shared Coexistence Mechanism
Description
The IEEE Standards Association (IEEE-SA) today announced that it is facilitating cooperation between the HomePlugĀ® Powerline Alliance and HD-PLC Alliance . Initially, work is focused on a joint certification program for the Inter-System Protocol (ISP) in the IEEE P1901 standard that allows coexistence between Power Line Communications (PLC) technologies. The coexistence standard allows physical devices that are compliant with different variants of the IEEE P1901 standard to operate without interference, enabling high-speed communications across shared electric power connections.

Smart Grid: The Tuesday Topic - Smart Grid News - Grid Modernization and the Smart Grid

 THE TUESDAY TOPIC

If you could design your own smart grid demo, what would it look like?

Three new demonstration projects caught our attention - a smart grid effort in Albuquerque's business district, a rapid recovery transformer study in Texas and a trial involving low voltage current sensor technologies in the UK. They also got us to thinking: At this stage in the smart grid build out, if you could design a demonstration project, what would it entail? That's our latest Tuesday Topic; click for the details.
