. Interactive customer engagement system provider GroundedPower has signed up a seventh Massachusetts municipal utility which is giving the company opportunities to conduct pilot programs in all electric metering environments, including legacy, AMR and AMI smart meters. The Shrewsbury Electric and Cable Operations (SELCO) has adopted GroundedPower's Interactive Customer Engagement System (iCES) for an advanced energy efficiency and peak demand reduction pilot program. The SELCO pilot involves 50 residential and city buildings and two schools, for a total of 400 homes and buildings involved in iCES pilots. Its intent is to determine if energy efficiency and demand response effectiveness and perceived customer value can be beefed up with a system that incorporates real-time energy monitoring with customer engagement and behavior tools. The iCES tools include a social media platform consumers can use to communicate with each other and share ideas.
Quick Take: It will be interesting to watch these pilots. It seems like giving consumers the opportunity to compare notes and share successes could be a real motivator.
