Good News for a Change: Utilities Ramping Up Smart Meter Deployments

Southern California Edison plans to accelerate a number of its projects this year, including transmission and distribution, rooftop solar programs and smart meter deployment, parent company Edison International announced. Sketchy details, but insiders are also telling us that Pacific Gas & Electric will kick its Smart Grid advanced meter deployment into a higher gear this year.

Considering all the bad news surrounding Smart Grid stimulus grant delays and consumer pushback, it'srefreshing to get some news of AMI projects moving faster than expected. Of course, Itron will be a major beneficiary.
