As the wealth of new Smart Grid technologies continues to expand, the importance of interoperability in metering, home energy management applications and the Smart Grid in general grows daily. An association of three metering industry leaders, the Interoperability Device Interface Specifications Industry Association (IDIS), is throwing its collective expertise at the challenge. IDIS membership currently includes Itron, Landis+Gyr and Iskraemeco. The association develops, maintains and promotes publicly available technical interoperability specifications based on open standards and supports their use in interoperable products. IDIS is based in Zug, Switzerland.
Quick Take: It's encouraging when three industry leaders in such a competitive market can bring their expertise together for the common good.
