· Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories based in Pullman, Washington, inked a multi-year substation automation contract valued at $71.5 million with the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP). SEL will supply project management, engineering services, software, and hardware to enhance the performance of the electric power grid owned and operated by LADWP. Press release >>
· Lucid Energy announced that San Antonio Water System will be the site of the first LucidPipe Power System installation in Texas. According to Lucid, the water-to-wire system produces clean, low-cost renewable energy from fast-moving water inside of large-scale municipal, agricultural and industrial water pipelines and effluent streams. Riverside Public Utilities in California, is currently operating the first commercial installation of the system. Meanwhile, Eléctrica de Guayaquil, a state-owned electric utility in Guayaquil, Ecuador, contracted with Itron to add 7,700 smart meters to the Itron smart grid network that was deployed in 2011. Press release >> /
· Elster has also picked up a win in Ecuador. Corporacion Nacional de Electricidad (CNEL), the single largest energy corporation in the country with more than 1.2 million end customers, has selected Elster to provide its AMI deployment.
