A report out of the Herald Sun says fear of ill effects of smart meters has Victoria, Australia householders coating their homes with an electromagnetic shielding paint. So many, in fact, that one painting company says it's had to book jobs weeks in advance since the smart meter deployment began.
The newspaper talked to a doctor who said she's had to take sick leave from her practice. Though she doesn't have a smart meter on her house, meters on her neighbors' homes were making her ill. She told the paper that her debilitating health problems include continuous palpitations, chest pain, lethargy, dizziness, fainting and insomnia.
The government, meanwhile, maintains that smart meters are safe and that their RF emissions are weaker than those of many other household devices. A government spokeswoman noted that the World Health Organization has determined electromagnetic hypersensitivity is not a medical diagnosis.
The shielding paint referred to appears to have been around for some time; perhaps first coming on the scene to quell concerns about cell towers and microwaves and has now found a new market calming smart meter fears. We found a website touting a made-in-the- USA anti-EMR radiation shielding paint that sells for $104.95 a quart – and it's out of stock.
