Verizon, eMeter to offer cloud-based MDM

Telecom giant Verizon and meter data management software company eMeter will develop and deliver what they describe as one of the first cloud-based MDM solutions for utilities. The new service will provide a data management solution that can address the potential for new business applications, improved billing and quicker customer response.

The new service, expected to make its debut in the spring, will deliver eMeter's MDM software to utilities as a managed service in a scalable cloud-based environment through Verizon's IP network. The bonus for utilities? Because the service will be cloud-based utilities will pay for it on a per-user basis, eliminating the need for major capital investments.
