ocean power is catching on, with 45 wave and tidal prototypes ready to be ocean tested this year or next according to IHS Emerging Energy Research. That could translate into more than 1.8 GW of ocean power emanating from projects in 16 countries, according to HIS. Tidal energy is expected to mature most quickly because hydro players who understand the technology are moving into the market, as are OEMs, according to HIS.
