1 Is the U.S. offshore wind industry finally going to get its sea legs?
DOE has announced plans to invest in seven offshore wind engineering, design and deployment projects in six states to take advantage of at least some of the more than 4,000 gigawatts of untapped clean wind energy.
DOE says that a U.S. offshore wind industry that takes advantage of this abundant power source could support up to 200,000 manufacturing, construction, operation and supply chain jobs throughout the country and drive more than $70 billion in annual investments by 2030. The expectation is that offshore wind's economic and energy potential could equal that of already successful land-based development.
