Smart grid technology provider SmartSynch and Sprint have teamed up to offer a residential utility meter that gives utilities the opportunity to automate the electric grid with advanced metering infrastructure (AMI), demand response and SmartSynch's network management. The greater efficiencies of the combination of SmartSynch's all IP-enabled smart grid technologies and the nationwide Sprint network mean less burden and expense for utilities in communications network management. The new smart meter, which communicates over the Sprint network, will give both utilities and their residential customers continuously updated energy use information.
