We've talked a lot about utilities crossing the IT-OT divide to improve business processes and take full advantage of new smart grid applications. Now Sunnyvale, CA-based Real-Time Innovations, a communications software provider, says its new RTI Connext product family is the first edge-to-enterprise real-time service oriented architecture (SOA) platform. RTI says Connext can bridge IT and OT to provide seamless, enterprise-wide integration to improve efficiency, responsiveness and real-time business intelligence in commercial industries.

 

"Our approach to the integration problem is unique. RTI’s new technology builds high-performance systems and then easily integrates them," said CEO Stan Schneider. "RTI’s base technology delivers the time-critical performance, scalability and 24x7 reliability that operational systems demand. For the first time, we also now have the integration power to merge and create systems of systems. This power allows us to build even larger operational systems and meld those OT systems with the enterprise IT infrastructure."

 

Siemens Energy selects RTI

RTI also announced that Siemens Energy, which provides solutions for the generation, transmission and distribution of power, has standardized on RTI for its next generation of wind power solutions. The company says Siemens will use its messaging software to deliver the resilient, high-performance and scalable data distribution capabilities that meet the demands of its SCADA systems for wind power delivery.
