Solving control system and substation automation problems

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories has extended its automation and control product family with Axion, which it describes as a high-density, highly configurable modular RTU and programmable logic controller (PLC) system. With flexible system architecture and integrated security, the Axion is designed to meet monitoring and control application needs. Automating utility asset maintenance and inspection

Trimble has released a new version of its Field Inspector software that is designed for automating utility infrastructure and smart grid asset maintenance and inspection. The software is compatible with a variety of Trimble's handheld computers used by mobile workforces. Gaining intelligence from smart grid implementations

Detectent has launched CustomerIP, a software and toolset designed to enable rapid deployment of business intelligence and analytics for utilities that are implementing or planning smart grid projects. “Our technology can help utilities obtain the smart grid post-implementation benefits, often referred to as day-two benefits, much faster and at a much lower investment,” said Detectent CEO  Michael Madrazo, noting that demands on utilities from regulators and shareholders to demonstrate quantifiable benefits to rate payers have been increasing at a rapid pace. Unified communications platform for smart metering and smart grid

Paradox Engineering has introduced PE.AMI, described as an out-of-the-box, self-configuring and self-healing solution developed for utilities and multi-utilities. It includes hardware, software and a management system to create a full bidirectional network that connects new or existing meters with a company’s business applications. Integrated automation controls toolkits like Mapjects

Great article, you may want to add C2 automation as well, initially we used Oracle and then moved to Mapjects for their automated asset management, out of the box they provide discovery based on device type. I wish the rest of the MDM and HEM solution was bundled into the solution. Mapjects used universal drivers based on the IEC and C.20 standards, but some Meters and head end systems dont implement the standards. Can you recommed some others, besides Trimble or Oracle.
