Green-collar jobs are on this list. “Even prior to the stimulus plan, the American Solar Energy Society forecasted that by 2030, the number of direct and indirect jobs related to renewable energy and energy efficiency was expected to reach nearly 40 million.”

It is estimated that up to 280,000 new jobs can be created directly from the deployment of Smart Grid technologies. The report explains that Federal investment in a Smart Grid could act as a catalyst for these planned and immediate direct jobs as well as spawn many indirect jobs.

Points to research demonstrating green jobs are blue collar and white collar alike. But also notes that investing in a clean-energy economy will especially drive new demand for labor in the construction and manufacturing sectors—two areas of the economy hardest hit in the current recession.

Job Boards
Designing and building a modern electrical grid will involve workers with a wide range of experiences – from laboratory scientists and researchers to skilled electricians and heavy equipment operators.
