SELECT ENERGY PROJECTS
State Energy Program
A total of $40 million is available for award
- The South Carolina Energy Office (SCEO) will award most of its State Energy Program ARRA funding to South Carolina school districts, state agencies, and state colleges and universities for energy efficiency and renewable energy projects. Funds will be awarded as grants and loans for planning and implementing projects that stimulate the creation or increased retention of jobs, save energy, increase energy generation from renewable sources, and reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emission. Application deadline: Sept.1, 2009.

Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) Program
- The Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant Program (EECBG) provides grants to U.S. local governments, states, territories, and Indian tribes, to fund projects that reduce energy use and fossil fuel emissions, and that improve energy efficiency.

Solar Energy Property Grant
- The grant is equal to 30% of the basis of the property for solar energy. Eligible solar-energy property includes equipment that uses solar energy to generate electricity, to heat or cool (or provide hot water for use in) a structure, or to provide solar process heat. Passive solar systems and solar pool-heating systems are not eligible. Hybrid solar-lighting systems, which use solar energy to illuminate the inside of a structure using fiber-optic distributed sunlight, are eligible.

Small Wind Turbines Energy Property Grant
- The grant is equal to 30% of the basis of the property for small wind turbines. Eligible small wind property includes wind turbines up to 100 kW in capacity.
