• The Governor’s Energy Office plans to distribute the funds to create jobs, develop clean energy sources, reduce energy costs for residents and cut emissions of greenhouse gases, divided into seven categories:

·            $19.2 million for finance and capital investment grants and revolving loans

·            $5.6 million for residential programs

·            $9.7 million for renewable energy development and expansion

·            $4.9 million for energy efficiency work on commercial buildings

·            $4.7 million for public information and consumer outreach

·            $723,348 for reducing the environmental impact of state government operations

·            $1.28 million for increasing energy efficiency among utility customers and electric utilities

After DOE approval, the GEO will solicit proposals for projects in these categories. The discretionary funds must be obligated by Sept. 30, 2010, and must be spent by March 2012.

• The GEO will submit its plan to the US Department of Energy by June 26. This plan will include an outline of the programs and projects the GEO expects to allocate funding to, and the mechanisms for distributing those funds. No specific external projects or vendors have been incorporated into this plan, and no open solicitations have taken place to identify projects, vendors or partners for development of this plan. The GEO is expecting to receive plan approval from the DOE by Aug. 1. All solicitations for funding will be announced to the GEO's newsletter list when the plan has been approved by the DOE.

The GEO funds will be used for energy efficiency services to local communities including code training, assistance with establishing local building standards and local incentive-based programs for homeowners and businesses.
