Glendale, California, became the first city in the country to receive Smart Grid stimulus money after signing an investment grant contract with DOE Thursday. The $20 million grant will help pay for Glendale Water & Power's wide-ranging AMI-Smart Grid initiative that will include smart meters, demand response, thermal energy storage and more.
