Smart Grid Stimulus Awards: $106 Million for Innovative Research in Biofuels, Carbon Capture and EV Batteries By SGN Staff Apr 30, 2010 - 2:04:49 PM
DOE's Advanced Research Agency-Energy (ARPA-E) has announced Smart Grid stmulus awards of $106 million for research and development in ambitious and innovative research and development projects in the creation of biofuels from electricity rather than photosynthesis, more efficient and cheaper electric vehicle (EV) batteries and advanced technologies for capturing carbon dioxide from coal-fired power plants. The grants go to projects in 17 states. Of the lead recipients, 24% are small businesses, 57% are educational institutions, 11% are national laboratories and 8% are large corporations.
