Smart Grid Stimulus: $100,000 to MIT for Smart Grid Benefits Study

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has tapped MIT to conduct a study of the benefits of deploying Smart Grid technologies and expanding the electric grid. The $100,000 Recovery Act grant also will support assessments of the roles of transmission and distribution, wholesale markets and regional transmission operators. Quick Take: We expect this Smart Grid stimulus money will be well-spent. It's certainly timely as the study also will get into economic, legal and other issues which affect all aspects of the Smart Grid effort.
