S&C Electric's smart grid product line includes switchgear, protection gear, wireless communications and software for distribution and substation automation. Founded in 1911, the employee-owned company recorded sales of $500 million in 2009. S&C Electric's smart grid competitors include General Electric and Cooper Power.
