PROJECT WINS
· Itron's AMI solution was selected by the City of San Diego’s Public Utilities Department for the automation of the city’s commercial and industrial water meters. Itron says its solution will help streamline meter reading and enhance customer service by enabling San Diego to instantaneously access water usage data using AMI technology. The contract includes a citywide fixed-base communication network infrastructure, water communication modules for C&I meters and private cloud managed services. Read more >>
o Itron also announced its AMR solution was selected for a United States Agency for International Development (USAID) project in Pakistan. The AMR solution will help Pakistan power distribution companies improve energy efficiency, manage supply and demand, and reduce losses on the network. Read more >>
· Comverge was awarded a contract through 2014 to continue helping commercial and industrial energy users in Northern California participate in the Pacific Gas & Electric Company (PG&E) demand response and energy efficiency programs. “The PG&E programs are designed to be both fiscally and environmentally responsible ways to respond to occasional and temporary peak demand periods," said Steve Moffitt, EVP and COO at Comverge. "We look forward to continuing to help our existing and future customers from a range of industries develop customized strategies to maximize their program participation.” Read more >>
· Schneider Electric will expand its work with Vattenfall Eldistribution of Stockholm, Sweden to include a larger portion of its smart meter system management. The new contract will continue through March 31, 2017, and gives Schneider Electric continued responsibility for the management of an AMI of 615,000 smart meters. The work includes the integration of an additional 150,000 meters to the Schneider Electric AMI Titanium platform. Read more >>
· Samsung SDI and Xtreme Power were selected by the Center for the Commercialization of Electric Technologies (CCET) to install a 1MW/1MWh lithium ion based Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) system at the Reese Technology Center in Lubbock, Texas as part of a Smart Grid Demonstration Project (SGDP). The $27 million demonstration project is jointly funded by CCET partners and the U.S. Department of Energy as part of the 2009 stimulus program. The SGDP is known as Discovery Across Texas, Technology Solutions for Wind Integration in ERCOT. The BESS will be owned and operated by South Plains Electric Cooperative as one of several project technologies to serve the SGDP objectives of wind integration. Read more >>
· Clevest Solutions, a provider of mobile workforce automation software including smart grid deployment and post-deployment operations exclusively for the utility industry, has renewed an exclusive agreement with the National Rural Telecommunications Cooperative to offer Clevest’s software and services for mobile workforce management and smart grid operations to its rural electric cooperative members.
