PROJECT WINS
· Trilliant will build on its successful 2011 pilot with the Victoria Electric Cooperative with a full scale roll out of a smart grid deployment for the Texas town, with completion expected by the end of 2014. The project will leverage Trilliant's communications platform to deliver advanced utility services. Read more >>
· Aclara won a contract with the Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) to deploy its consumer engagement software platform. The solution is designed to increase energy literacy, engagement and related behavioral changes that help customers understand and manage energy usage and costs. Read more >>
· Quanta Services got the nod from American Electric Power (AEP) to rebuild 66 miles of its 345,000-volt power line near Corpus Christi, Texas.
· SunPower signed a power purchase agreement with Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) for delivery of the 100-megawatt (AC) Henrietta Solar Project in Kings County, Calif. SunPower says the project is expected to create approximately 200 jobs during construction and inject $72.7 million into the local economy. Read more >>
· Milsoft Utility Solutions will be adding its outage management, GIS and IVR communications to solutions it provides Sam Houston Electric Cooperative, which serves nearly 52,000 members in eastern Texas. The company also announced it was chosen by Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative to supply its field inspection solution and that Tombigbee Electric Cooperative in Alabama added its IVR communications to its existing portfolio of Milsoft products. · Survalent Technology will supply its SCADA system to the Florida-based Escambia River Electric Cooperative. Survalent says the coop will use its smart grid applications in their deployment of SCADA and its advanced web technology to increase the value of SCADA to their organization. Read more >>
· U.S. Department of Agriculture, with its latest investment of $27 million in loan guarantees to rural electric cooperatives and utilities, announced it has reached its $250 million goal to finance smart grid technologies. The latest recipients are:
o Kansas - Ark Valley Electric Cooperative
o Minnesota -- Stearns Cooperative Electric and Agralite Electric Cooperative
o Missouri / Iowa -- Northeast Missouri Electric Power Cooperative
o North Carolina -- Piedmont Electric Membership Corp., Brunswick Electric Membership Corp. and Edgecombe-Martin County Electric Membership Corp.
o Southwest states -- Tri-State Generation and Transmission Association
