If variety is the spice of life, this week's list of smart grid wins is zesty as they come. We go from rural Sweden to the Congo, from Thailand to Tennessee. We’ve got payment apps integrating with smart meters and software helping optimize Army microgrid command centers. And be sure to click to page two to find out which utility ranked highest in the Top 100 Military Friendly Employers ranking.
PROJECT WINS
· Swedish demo focuses on rural grids – The point of the smart grid demonstration in Gotland, Sweden is to show how smart grid technologies can improve the electrical quality of large rural grids by utilizing large quantities of
· PayGo apps go to Latin America – Utility customers in 16 Latin American countries will have new ways to manage when, where, and how they pay for energy via a new partnership between ELO Sistemas Electronicas, the leading electronic metering provider in Brazil, and PayGo. The two companies are integrating ELO smart meters with PayGo applications and technology. "Latin American utilities are about to begin the wholesale adoption of smart meter technologies with the installation of a large number of smart meters in Brazil," said Marcos Rizzo, ELO vice president of business development. "ELO will be the first supplier in the region to incorporate PayGo’s ‘real-time’ technology in the meter which validates our vision to be an energy industry platform for the next generation smart grid."
