Organizers of the September GridWeek conference told Reuters that the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is expected to announce its Smart Grid standards roadmap during the much-anticipated gathering. GridWeek, in its third year, is presented by the Department of Energy, the GridWise Alliance and a variety of industry organizations and vendors. The conference will be held Sept. 21-24 in Washington, D.C. NIST has been heading up the standards development efforts and appears to be on target to release its roadmap before Smart Grid stimulus grants are awarded. The conference will feature speakers from a host of government agencies, utilities, regulators, and industry oganizations. The conference, which focuses on all things Smart Grid, is noted for presenting up-to-date and useful information on issues such as implementation and business development.
