SELECT ENERGY PROJECTS
State energy program
Allotted state funds: $82,495,000
- These funds will be awarded through an open application. Criteria may include, but will not be limited to, estimates of job creation/retention, other economic benefits, energy saved, renewable energy generated, and other cost/benefit information. GEFA is not accepting applications at this time. The application process will not begin until the US Department of Energy has awarded ARRA funds to GEFA. This award is expected no sooner than July 12, 2009.

Weatherization Assistance Program
Anticipated state allocated funds: $124,756,312
- The ARRA provides a significant increase in funding for weatherization services and it increases the maximum amount that may be spent to $6500 per household. Eligible providers include local community action agencies, city and county government entities, as well as other nonprofit agencies. GA expects to receive federal funds on July 12, 2009.

Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant
Potential funding for Georgia: $45,556,900 for large communities directly from USDOE and at least 60% of $21,630,700, for small communities through GEFA
- The purposes of the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant Program are to reduce fossil fuel emissions, decrease total energy consumption, improve energy efficiency in the transportation, building, and other energy consuming sectors, spur economic growth, and create and/or retain jobs. Cities with population less than 35,000 and counties with population less than 200,000 will apply directly to Georgia Environmental Facilities Authority. Cities and counties with populations above 35,000 and 200,000 respectively will apply to the U.S. Department of Energy.
