SELECT ENERGY PROJECTS
State Energy Program
Total Delaware funds: $24,231,000
- The state and local governments, municipal utility and school districts will award contracts using their currently established procedures. The priority will be for projects that are “shovel/project ready;” those that can be rolled-out quickly, putting individuals back to work. This means that small businesses must be “contract ready,” i.e., registered/certified to do business with the State and local governmental entities. Primary focus areas:
- Home Energy Efficiency – funds will be used to conduct home energy audits and implementation of retrofitting for HVAC, windows, insulation, air stripping and other materials. Start-up expected late 2009.
- Business, Commercial and Manufacturing Energy Efficiency – funds will be used for energy audits, installation of efficient lighting, updated refrigeration systems, HVAC and motor and process efficiency improvements. Start-up expected June.
- Renewable Energy Funding – funds will be used to assist with installation of renewable energy technology such as solar, wind, or geothermal systems. Green Energy Fund currently operational.
- Energy Efficiency in Schools and State facilities – funds will be used to enter into performance contracts or in other mechanisms for upgrades in certain state buildings. Timelines to be determined.
