ZigBee Certifies 17 New Devices

The ZigBee Alliance announced today that they have certified 17 new home automation products from 10 different manufacturers. Passing ZigBee certification means the products can now use the ZigBee Certification logo and ZigBee Home Automation icon in packaging and marketing. Certified ZigBee home automation products include controls for security devices, support for doorbells and motorized window shades, HVAC systems, power outlets, and more.

Quick Take: ZigBee, of course, is the HAN protocol specified in several of the largest AMI rollouts. Like it or not, it is one of the emerging standards every utility and vendor should get to know.
