LumaSense Technologies, a global provider of temperature and gas sensing solutions for a variety of applications including energy and clean technology, has released the LumaSMART, which it describes as Smart Grid-ready technology that allows utilities to monitor transformer winding hot spot temperatures. The LumaSMART is intended to help utilities oversee and control power load and transformer reliability.
LumaSense's new Smart Grid technology is based on some of its earlier products. The LumaSMART includes a touchscreen display with trend identification tools, one gigabyte of historical data storage, graphics and alarm configurability. The features allow users to customize LumaSMART functions to meet their needs. LumaSense describes it as compact and easy to install and configure.
In addition to providing more accurate monitoring, the Santa Clara, California-based company says LumaSMART's communication and configuration features will easily integrate into utility automated data and control systems.
