There's probably enough hardware/software and vendor collaboration news coming out of the 2010 DistribuTECH Conference and Exhibition this week to keep anyone with even a vague interest in the Smart Grid busy reading for months. We're switching gears from our usual format to give you an idea of what's being unveiled and/or demonstrated at the conference in Tampa this week.

 

The following is a sampling of who's doing what and who they're doing it with. Be sure to check our Press Release channel for more announcements.

 

Lockheed Martin is showing off the integration of its SEEload Demand Response Management Solution with the Oracle Utilities Network Management System. The integration gives utility system operators more flexibility in dealing with localized grid disturbances.

 

ABB and Sensus announced their collaboration to provide enhanced integrated Smart Grid applications for utilities, such as: fault detection, isolation and restoration (FDIR), VoltVar optimization and the extension of the ABB Network manager SCADA to feeder equipment like advanced sensors.

 

Intergraph® has joined forces with meter data management provider eMeter to integrate smart meter data into its Smart Grid Operations Command-and-Control Center to give grid operators consolidated end-to-end network visibility and management capabilities. It's intended to give utilities the maximum benefits of their AMI and smart meter deployments in outage detection and response.

 

GarrettCom® unveiled a series of hardware and software products to provide Smart Grid enhancements of cyber-security at large substations. The collection includes an industrial router that can be configured for cellular wireless or wireline ports, extended IPSec and VPN security capabilities in the company's MNS-DX router software and more.

 

GridPoint announced that its interactive home energy management offering will support EnergyHub's Dashboard, which features an intuitive touchscreen interface to easily monitor and control all electrical equipment in the home.

 

NEC Electronics America showcased its smart energy solution lineup by demonstrating how its Smart Home technologies can be combined with Corporate Systems Engineering's (CSE) demand response solution to produce a cooperative approach to energy management for utilities and consumers.
