Oncor is the regulated electric delivery business within Energy Future Holdings (formerly TXU Corp.) and is the largest regulated electric distribution business in Texas and the sixth largest in the U.S.
It serves the sprawling east, north-central and western portions of Texas with more than 102,000 miles of distribution and 14,000 miles of transmission lines in over 400 communities, including the high-growth Dallas-Fort Worth area.

Oncor has installed over 300,000 advanced meters and is on track to meet its goal of 690,000 by the end of 2009. The utility expects 3 million meters will be installed by 2012, paid for courtesy of a utility commission-approved rate surcharge. AMS meters are able to communicate with in-home devices, and support of time-of-use rates.
Earlier this year Ecologic Analytics announced it was chosen as the MDMS for Oncor`s advanced metering project; cited its close relationship with Landis+Gyr.

To help Texas meet demand, Oncor was tapped by the Public Utility Commission of Texas to build about $1.3 billion worth of transmission lines to connect West Texas' huge wind-power farms with users in the rest of the state. Currently the wind turbines cannot work at full capacity due to the lack of transmission lines.
Oncor announced in May, 2009 that it is partnering with Ford Motor to seek Department of Energy stimulus funds to support testing of plug-in hydro and electric cars.
For vendors only …
In November 2008, Oncor completed the sale of approximately 20% of its outstanding equity interests to a private Canadian investment group, which takes two seats on the board. Expect a settling in period with ownership changes and impact of board additions.
