The Solar Electric Power Association (SEPA), an organization with members in the electric utility and solar industries, has set up a group of specialized forums for its utility members to address their Smart Grid-era concerns about solar power, find possible solutions, share ideas, develop best practices and more. The forums, called Utility Solar Interest Groups, are intended to address issues in the areas of grid integration, federal and state policy and regulation, program management and marketing, strategic issues and utility solar business models. The forums also will be opportunities for participants to provide feedback and direction to SEPA on its research and education projects. SEPA provides resources in utility solar market intelligence and technology and promotes peer-to-peer communications.
Quick Take: This is yet another example of the collaborative approach the Smart Grid seems to be encouraging between utilities and Smart Grid technology providers, developers and manufacturers.
