1 While the home energy management sector has created a very crowded and competitive market, utilities planning pilot programs face a confusing array of technologies and options. And, according to a report from IDC Energy Insights, those technologies aren't really ready to meet expectations.
"Technology selection and deployment options are very confusing at this time," said Usman Sindhu, IDC senior research analyst in utilities, oil and gas. "Utilities are in need of clear choices and tangible approaches to enable home energy management. Unfortunately, the market is not going to get better any time soon. Therefore, utility professionals, especially energy management and IT folks, have to team up in selecting the right technology and business model."
